REGARDLESS of people’s financial position, there is room for everyone at Strathearn House explains Julie Gallasch, admissions coordinator for HammondCare.
Tomorrow HammondCare will be opening their doors to the public to explain how people of all means can become a resident.
“We want people to come forward and not be daunted by price, because everybody deserves care and there are many ways we can structure things,” said Ms Gallasch.
“If someone has less than $47,500 in assets and were on the pension, they can qualify as a low means resident and pay the basic day fee of $49.42, so we can cater to everyone from low means, to people who can pay the full amount,” she said.
“People who are middle income earners are often in the most difficult position because they don’t qualify for government support and aren’t in a position to pay the full amount so we have a 70 percent assurance which means they can access care with us,” she said.
“We’ve had so many financial advisors come back to us and say they have never heard of an organisation which offers this and it is the thing that differentiates us from other providers is what enables us care to be affordable for everyone regardless of their financial position.
“Because we are a not for profit organisation we want to make sure care is affordable for everyone; when Reverend Hammond first started rental accommodation it was so people who were disadvantaged could rent and buy back a house and land and we want to maintain that approach with aged care,” she said.
“Everybody’s situation is different, so we’d encourage people to come along tomorrow and we’d be happy to go through the different options,” Julie Gallash said.
