Mr Martin said, “the police are investigating it now.”

On the Merriwa Connect Facebook page, he wrote people had ripped plants out and “spat saliva on the IGA shop front windows.”

“Concerns are that staff had to clean a large amount of mucus/saliva from the glass windows during this coronavirus pandemic, just hours after the incident occurred,” Mr Martin wrote.

“We have professionally cleaned and decontaminated the glass windows right after the incident, ensuring that all customers and staff are safe from possible coronavirus and virus contamination,” he wrote.

Anyone with information is asked to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
