Position Vacant: Journalist – Based in Singleton

The Wavelength Group Pty Ltd is looking for a full-time permanent journalist to be based in Singleton, NSW. Wavelength is an independent town-based regional online news media, which launched scone.com.au in 2016 and quickly became the region’s leading text-based media. We are now gearing up to launch an online news service in Singleton and want to find a journalist who is passionate about regional town-based news. 

Essential:

• Keen news sense;
• Proven skills in news gathering, research and analysis;
• Strong news and community interest writing skills;
• Examples of well-balanced accurate reporting;
• Ability to develop and maintain community contacts;
• Can deliver under pressure to daily deadlines;
• Initiative and strong work ethic;
• Basic photography skills;
• A valid driver’s licence.

Desirable:

• Experience in publishing to online platforms including social media;
• University degree in communications or commensurate journalism experience.
