Trout Season Begins

TROUT season begins Saturday, October 5, running until the June long weekend 2020 and anglers are urged to come on up to the Upper Hunter!

What better way to support country communities during the drought than to spend a weekend in the Upper Hunter?

Local rivers for trout fishing include the Omadale Brook, Moonan Brook, Stewarts Brook and several throughout the Barrington.

Geraldton Open Day @ 2 Shaw Street,

Bill and Sarah Howey will kindly open their home “Geraldton” to the whole community to help raise money for the local Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Association (ADFAS).

Geraldton is one of the oldest homes in Scone, built circa 1856 and orginally known as “Belmore Hourse’, in honour of the Governor of NSW the Earl of Belmore.

The beautiful gardens with huge trees and drought tolerant plantings will be available for everyone to enjoy.

Bill Howey will be available to talk about the fascinating history of the home and and its previous caretakers and Linda from Plants on Main will walk people through the garden and give advice on plants suitable for our area.

Sarah Howey will also be providing lunch in the courtyard for all of their guests for $15 and they encourage everyone to relax, catch up and enjoy some refreshingly green space during the drought.

  • 10am – 4pm: Open Day at Geraldton for $5.
  • 12pm – 2pm: Lunch is available in the courtyard for $15.

Service For Those Who Help Most @ St Luke’s Anglican Church

Celebrating and Thanking those who care for our community.

Anytime, every day of the year, the sound of sirens and the sight of community transport vehicles remind us of the many courageous and dedicated people who willingly serve our community in the emergency, health and community care services. Police, Fire, Ambulance Officers, doctors, nurses, home care services, mental health services and family who care for their loved ones all give continually of themselves to keep the community safe.

On Sunday, 20th October Scone Anglican Parish invites you to take the opportunity to say thank you and show support for the many who serve our community, keeping us safe, healthy and cared for.

If you work, paid or voluntary, for any of the emergency, community care or health services in Scone, you and your family are warmly invited to attend the event at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Liverpool Street, Scone.

All those in the community who would like to show their appreciation, give thanks to God and pray for the work of these workers are welcome to join us.

The celebration starts at 5pm at St Luke’s Church and will be followed by a ‘High Tea’ in the Hall.
