Covid deaths in the Hunter

THERE were 63more cases of covid identified in the Hunter New England local health district in the past 24 hours.

Today there was another case identified in Muswellbrook and Muswellbrook, with Singleton also recording a case on Sunday.

On Sunday it was released that a woman in her 70s from Cessnock passed away from Covid at the John Hunter Hospital and a woman in her 50s from Newcastle died in Calvary Marter Newcastle hospital. Today it was released that a woman in her 30s also died at the John Hunter Hospital.

Of the new cases in the past 24 hours:

  • 15 were in Lake Macquarie LGA (471 active cases)
  • 13 were in Mid Coast LGA (87 active cases)
  • 12 were in the Newcastle LGA (79 active cases)
  • 11 were in the Maitland LGA (253 active cases)
  • 6 were in the Cessnock LGA (291 active cases)
  • 2 were in the Port Stephens LGA (79 active cases)
  • 2 were in the Tamworth LGA (79 active cases)
  • 1 was in the Singleton LGA (23 active cases)
  • 1 was in the Muswellbrook LGA (25 active cases)

Statewide covid numbers:

  • 267 new cases of covid
  • 606 people are hospitalised
  • 132 people are in intensive care
  • 71 people are being ventilated
  • 5 people have died
    • a woman in her 30s from Cessnock
    • a women in her 50s
    • a woman in her 60s
    • a woman in her 70s
    • a woman in her 80s

The new cases were from the following local health districts:

  • 65 – South Western Sydney
  • 63 – Hunter New England
  • 33 – Western Sydney
  • 21 – Sydney
  • 18 – Murrumbidgee
  • 18 – South Eastern Sydney
  • 16 – Illawarra Shoalhaven
  • 10 – Central Coast
  • 5 – Nepean Blue Mountains
  • 5 – Southern NSW
  • 4 – Northern Sydney
  • 2 – Western NSW
  • 1 – Northern NSW
  • 1 – correctional setting
  • 3 are yet to be assigned to an LHD.
