Covid confirmed at Hunter Valley Operations

Filed in Just In by September 4, 2021

HUNTER Valley Operations (HVO), a Glencore managed mine site, has confirmed two scaffolders with covid-19 were at HVO and their Howick coal handling preparation plant (CHPP) between Tuesday and Thursday this week.

NSW Health is working with HVO to notify people who may have been in contact with the known cases and have advised anyone who logged on to the QR code at the CHPP during that time will be classed as a casual contact.

People who are a casual or close contact should isolate and follow the directions of NSW Health.

HVO has advised anyone who is not classed as a close contact, will be able to return to work once they receive a negative covid test.

Workers outside of the coal handling plant area will continue shifts as normal.

There are approximately 1,240 employees and contractors at the HVO mine site.

The mine is 51 percent owned by Yancoal and 49 percent owned and managed by Glencore.

More information to follow tomorrow.
