Accident Scone Bypass

Filed in Just In by October 7, 2020

AT approximately 7:23 this morning an accident occurred at the southern entrance to the Scone Bypass, on the New England Highway.

Initial reports are it is a two vehicle collision, between a small SUV and utility, with one person trapped.

Police, ambulance and fire crews are on scene.

Police report the north bound off ramp into Scone is currently blocked.

UPDATE: 8:08AM: Traffic is still flowing on the New England Highway and motorists can still exit into Scone, with the merging lane being used to divert traffic. Please drive slowly in the area.

UPDATE: 8:20AM: While traffic is flowing, it is becoming more congested. Motorists may consider using alternate roads such as Gundy-Segenhoe Roads or Moobi-Nandowra-Dartbrook Roads between Aberdeen and Scone and vehicles travelling south through Scone may want to consider stopping in Scone for a coffee while traffic clears. If you use an alternate road, please drive with caution as those roads are not designed for highway traffic.

More to follow.
