Testing times for the Mayor
MAYOR Maurice Collison said he is proud of the local community doing the right thing during the pandemic and so when he felt a niggle in his throat he didn’t assume it was nothing and did the right thing.
“I’m very proud of the people of the Upper Hunter, there have been no cases and people are doing the right thing,” said Mayor Collison
“So when I felt a bit of a niggle in my throat on Monday night and next day it hadn’t gone away I booked myself in for a test,” he said.
“I haven’t been anywhere and haven’t done the wrong thing, but you just never know, anyone could pick it up from somewhere and not know it,” he said.
“So I went and had the test and was in and out within five minutes,” he said.
“I took my piece of paper home and now I’ll stay at home until I get the text to say I’m clear,” Mayor Collison said.
Maurice said he’s also had his first vaccination and encourages everyone to get the shot and continue to keep the community safe.
“It’s very important to get the shots, I’ve had one and I have another at the end of September, it’s not that big of a drama,” said Mayor Collison.
“There used to be all sorts of shots at school and this is just as quick and easy,” he said.
“It was done in about 15 minutes and I was out of there, gone,” he said.
“I encourage everyone to get the shots and I can’t believe the mentality of some people in the rest of the state it’s just not acceptable, so I’m glad here residents are doing the right thing,” Maurice Collison said.
