IN the lead up to the by-election for the Upper Hunter announcements from candidates are coming thick and fast, but today Lee Watts has made an announcement of a different kind: she will not be running in the upcoming election.
Ms Watts ran as an independent candidate in the 2015 state election and as the candidate for the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party in the 2019 election gaining 22 percent of the vote.
In a statement on her Facebook page, Ms Watts said she wished the candidates the best in the short time frame they had to campaign and urged voters to make a considered decision on who to elect.
“The Upper Hunter electorate deserves the best, we need someone that understands the diversity of all the areas, is willing to listen and act of what is heard but most of all that truly wants to represent every person in this electorate,” said Ms Watts.
“When voting please don’t continue to do what you have always done take the time to see what our candidates are passionate about,” she said.
“My fingers are crossed we have one genuine candidate for this state election,” Lee Watts said.
Ms Watts will continue to be a Councillor on the Upper Hunter Shire Council, manage the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre and be a marriage celebrant.
