Training on Track
MERSADIES Cadalbert has broken the 12 second barrier running 11.69 second time over 100 metres in training for the upcoming state titles.
Her coach Russell Sakey is enthusiastic that Mersadies could make the finals at the state titles.
“We set a target of breaking 12 seconds over 100 metres for the state titles and her training is going well,” said Mr Sakey.
“We’ve had two solid training sessions each week and last Saturday she ran 11.69, followed by another two runs which were bang on 12 seconds,” he said.
“Her last run that day was 12.35 which still breaks the record she set at her high school and I’ve been searching around for comparable times and there is a time held by an 18 year old boy at a titles in Sydney which was 12.56, so she is way inside those times,” he said.
“I am enthusiastic to think she will qualify in the finals at state at the rate she is going,” he said.
“So between completing school assignments, looking after her horses, helping in her Mum’s shop and generally being a teenager, training is going well,” Russell Sakey said.
